The oldest skull surgery in North America dates again a staggering 3,000 years, new analysis has discovered.
Analysis of a prehistoric man’s skull discovered a gap in his brow, based on bioarchaeologist Diana Simpson from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Data suggests that somebody scraped the bone out of the skull because it sustained trauma round its oval opening, reported Science News.

Researchers excavated the stays in northwest Alabama, and estimate them to be between 3,000 and 5,000 years previous.
While skull surgery may be traced way back to 13,000 years ago, this discovery marks North America’s oldest recognized case.
Items discovered close to the person’s grave recommend he could have been a ritual practitioner or shaman.
Some of the objects included sharpened bone pins and deer and turkey bones, which can have been used for tattooing, Science News reported.
Unearthed initially within the Forties at Little Bear Creek Site, the person’s grave was discovered alongside 162 others.
After an evaluation, the stays had been despatched again to native Native American communities for reburial.
