It was the police that came to rescue as the Roosevelt Field Mall in the Garden City Sunday afternoon put their shoppers into a rush and went into a panic situation. The Police said that the panic happened as the shoppers inside thought it was an active shooter incident.
The detectives claimed that no shots were fired inside the shopping complex.
The Nassau police explains the situation- “There was a large disturbance in the southern end of the mall near the Macy’s just before 4 pm. Then the detectives came into the role and they confirmed that no shots were fired. But it was a chair or something that hit the floor and that caused the entire mess and rush. This made a loud noise and people got threatened and rush towards the emergency exit and exit points.”
Videos on social media went viral and the media captured the moment when parents ran out of their kids out of the mall and their kids looked terrific and confused.
Twitter got flooded with videos and comments. Some of the comments that users had been-
- “It was absolutely a terrifying event.” She added that- “She heard people running, screaming, crying and that she does not want to experience the event again.”

She was at the Zara store shopping when she heard the disturbance and then she along with one other shopper hit the ground and crawled into the basement of the area of the mall assuming that it was an active shooting event.
- Justin Rodriguez was sitting in the food court- “There was a lot of rush and people were jumping from one corner to the other over the planters and stuff. People rushed from one place to the other as they wanted to move out of the mall as soon as possible.”
There were no reported incidents of any major injury but then police investigated where they recovered some gun-looking machines from the crime scene. The exact news of the incident has not been revealed yet.
