Speaking about her undying passion for her career, Alison previously told The Independent: ‘I’m not that social. I’m frightened by things that other people find normal and so I surround myself with loud, funny people so I can laugh my a*s off and chip in at the sides of conversations.
‘But going on stage is like crossing a line in the sand into a place where I can do, say, feel, express, become anything that I want to. I feel very safe on stage and that’s wonderful.
‘The adrenaline gives you an extreme energy surge. I will probably tour my whole life because I genuinely love that high.’

Damian’s late wife, Peaky Blinders actress Helen McCrory, died in April last year at the age of 52 after a secret battle with breast cancer. They had been married since 2007.
The actor was approached for comment by The Mail on Sunday but had not responded last night. A spokesman for Alison declined to comment.
When Helen died in April last year, Damian revealed how his late wife had urged him to find love again, telling him and their son and daughter that she wanted ‘Daddy to have lots of girlfriends.’
Damian added in the social media post: ‘She died as she lived. Fearlessly. God we love her and know how lucky we are to have had her in our lives. She blazed so brightly. Go now, Little One, into the air.’

Damian reminisced on his first time at Soccer Aid in 2006 with his late wife Helen on Good Morning Britain last month.
He told GMB hosts Kate Garraway and Ben Shepherd that, ‘she’s with us again this year’ as he helps raise money for the charity UNICEF.
On GMB, Ben said: ‘The first time I met you and your lovely wife Helen away from work was at Soccer Aid many years ago in Manchester and you were there with the family and the kids. She was always such a vociferous supporter of you and everything you did.
‘Kate and I were very honoured to be at her memorial service just a few weeks ago. I’d imagine you’ve been very moved by the outpouring of love and support that has been shown towards her since she sadly passed away.’

Damian replied, ‘Well, She was a fabulous human being and people from all walks of life have been in touch to say what an impact she had on their lives.
‘That day we had a few weeks ago was a very special day, I’m very glad you could have been part of it and she was celebrated by her tribe, her profession, the acting profession – actors, directors, producers, writers all showed up and she’s much, much missed.
‘When she came to Soccer Aid the very first time, I’d gone into my hotel room at The Lowry in Manchester and it was covered in Union Jack bunting and England flags everywhere which she’d gone out and bought and decorated the room with. So, she’s with us. She’s with us again this year.’
Kate added, ‘As you say, she touched so many people’s lives that we all feel the loss that obviously you live with every day, a little fraction of it anyway.’
Damian, who married Helen in 2007, announced her death in a heartbreaking statement on social media in April last year.
Appointed an OBE in the 2017 New Year Honours for services to drama, Helen was also an award-winning stage actress, working with the National Theatre, the Almeida and the Donmar Warehouse and playing Lady Macbeth at Shakespeare’s Globe.
Rufus Norris, artistic director of the National Theatre, said she was ‘unquestionably one of the great actors of her generation’.
Helen made her final TV appearance in March last year, joining Lewis on Good Morning Britain to promote their work with The Prince’s Trust charity.
