Obuasi West MP Kweku Kwarteng of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dismissed efforts to abolish the E-levy.

Some Ghanaians have called for the contentious tax to be repealed since the government has requested help from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

According to Mr. Kwarteng, the E-levy was never considered as a replacement for the International Monetary Fund.
